Wexas appoints seven staff including new head of sales
Four recruits join Classic Collection Holidays
Specialist tour operator Wexas has appointed a new head of sales and a further six staff to bolster its team – with four joining from Classic Collection Holidays.
Newly appointed head of sales Vicky Virgo, European team leader Mark Udal, consultants Eva Bryant and Lynn Jordan-Willis have all moved from Classic Collection, which recently confirmed an unspecified number of staff had left following a company restructure.
Wexas previously had one head of sales and operations but has now split this position into two separate roles to reflect the growth of the business.
Virgo will be tasked with sales management and growth in the new head of sales role. She was previously contact centre manager at Class Collection Holidays. She has 21 years’ experience in travel, 16 of which were at Classic Collection.
In addition to Udal, five new sales consultants have been appointed. Overall, the size of the sales team has increased by 20% with the new hires.
Bryant has been taken on as a specialist in Italy, Malta and the Greek Islands while Jordan-Willis has joined the Scandinavia sales team based on her in-depth knowledge of Norway.
The other new consultants are Adam Lowe, who has worked at Trailfinders for 14 years; Amy Lucas, who has worked for Wildfoot Travel and the American Road Trip; and Faye Jones, who has 15 years’ experience in the industry including at Scott Dunn, Newmarket Holidays and the Unforgettable Travel Company.
Wexas, which sold its business travel division last year, has three tour operator brands: Wexas Travel, The Luxury Holiday Company and Best Served Scandinavia. The first two are both direct sell operators while Best Served Scandinavia is sold to consumers and via travel agents, with the trade accounting for around 30% of bookings.
Virgo said: “I’m excited to join Wexas with its extensive experience in worldwide travel and industry reputation for high service standards. I look forward to continuing the development of their three established brands to achieve further sales growth, customer retention and satisfaction.”
Wexas’ marketing team has also been strengthened with the appointment of Joel Rabinowitz from EasyJet holidays, who joined in April as senior content specialist, responsible for content development across three brands.
Managing director Katherine Gershon said: “I’m delighted to bolster our sales and marketing teams with these new appointments. Everyone joining brings a wealth of experience and in-depth destination knowledge to our team and are key to helping us organically grow the business across Wexas Travel, The Luxury Holiday Company and Best Served Scandinavia.”
