Wizz Air ground handlers threaten Luton strikes
Unite union claims ‘complete breakdown’ in industrial relations

Hundreds of Wizz Air flights from Luton airport face the prospect of “substantial” delays and disruption due to a threatened strike.
Unite union members employed by the budget carrier’s ground handler GH London Ground Handling Services announced strike action following a “complete collapse” in industrial relations.
More than 80 workers initially plan three days of strike action. The first 24-hour walk out is planned for August 30 followed by others on September 6 and 13.
Unite regional officer Richard Gates warned: “The strikes will cause huge disruption to Wizz’s schedule but GH London has brought this dispute on itself.
“Unite has given the company every opportunity to improve its conduct and it has refused to do so.”
GH London renewed its handling agreement with Wizz Air at Luton last year.
