The Ad Age Small Agency Awards, now in its 15th year, is the only awards program of its kind tailored to agencies of 150 or fewer employees. The awards honor independent agencies excelling in three important areas: creating amazing and effective work for clients, building a financially healthy business and cultivating a diverse and rewarding environment for employees.
Judges are seeking ingenuity and nimbleness in a real-time marketing world as well as versatility of work spanning digital, social, experiential, TV, print and more. These awards celebrate shops that may be smaller in size than big agencies but have the smarts, the chops and the culture to compete against the giants—and win.
Small Agency Awards winners are chosen on a regional and national basis based on employee count, and there is an award for International Small Agency of the Year. Additional categories include Culture Agency of the Year, Experiential Agency of the Year, Media Agency of the Year, Purpose-Led Agency of the Year and Newcomer of the Year (qualifying shops for the last will be less than 18 months old as of Feb. 14).
In addition, there are categories honoring the people that contribute to small agency success: Creatives of the Year, Strategic Planner of the Year, Account Planner of the Year and Account Manager of the Year. New for 2023 are four additional categories—PR Agency of the Year, Design Agency of the Year, Executive of the Year and Healthcare Campaign of the Year.
Winners of the 2023 Agencies of the Year and the People category are chosen by a team of Ad Age editors. Awards for Campaigns of the Year are selected by a jury of noted industry executives. And for the first time, a special award will be inaugurated in 2023 for the Best Use Of TikTok.
