BA raises Barbados capacity for Easter

British Airways is raising frequency between Gatwick and Barbados next Easter.

Three three additional flights will have the capability of bringing an extra 3,336 UK visitors to Barbados over the March 26-April 16 holiday period and will increase capacity from Gatwick to eight flights a week. 

BA currently runs five flights a week to  Bridgetown from the airport and will be operating larger Boeing 777-300 aircraft from Heathrow from October 30 

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) chair Shelly Williams said:  “British Airways is a long-standing partner, that continues to demonstrate commitment to Barbados. 

“Our mutually beneficial relationship has grown from strength to strength, even in the face of challenges such as the pandemic, fluctuating pound and rising fuel costs.

“Increasing services between London Gatwick and Barbados at a time that other carriers are opting to redirect their services to shorter haul destinations, speaks volumes for destination Barbados and our relationship management.

“Easter has always been special to us, so this new capacity is particularly welcomed during this key period for the UK travel trade and our tourism partners in Barbados.”

The capacity update follows Barbados lifting all Covid restrictions in September.

The UK was the largest source market of travellers to Barbados between January and July with 100,702 stayover visitors, representing just under half of all international arrivals.

BA partner airline Aer Lingus restarts its Manchester-Bridgetown from November 2 until April 30, 2023 and Virgin Atlantic restarts flights from the north-west hub from October 31.
