Hays agents raise funds with walk from Bury to Manchester airport
Team of five cover more than 18 miles in support of Andy’s Man Club
A group of agents from Hays Travel in Bury walked from their shop to Manchester airport to raise money for a men’s mental health charity.
The team of five walked more than 18 miles earlier this month, from their agency at The Rock shopping centre in Bury to Manchester airport.
The walk from north to south Manchester took the team eight and a half hours and raised £700 for Andy’s Man Club.
The charity is a men’s suicide prevention group, offering free-to-attend, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online.
Brian Wiggins, lead facilitator at Andy’s Man Club Bury, said: “Andy’s Man Club are so grateful to have been chosen as Hays Travel Bury’s designated charity for 2024.
“It’s great to have the support of such a great team as we continue to raise awareness and show men that it is indeed ‘okay to talk’.”
Louise Stewart, branch manager of Hays Travel Bury, said: “I’m so proud of the team for completing the walk and raising so much money for Andy’s Man Club.
“It’s an amazing charity that aims to remove the stigma around men’s mental health.
“It was a long day, but we wanted to do something that pushed us out of our comfort zone and raise as much money as possible.”
Every year, each of Hays Travel’s 490 branches receives a £500 budget to use for fundraising and charity work in their local community.
In the last year, Hays Travel’s Local Community Partnership initiative across its retail network has donated more than £140,000 to local charities.
