John Wren, Aaron Walton among 2023 Advertising Hall of Fame inductees
The American Advertising Federation will hold the induction ceremony in late April in New York City.
The American Advertising Federation announced this year's class that will be inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame. The class, which consists of seven people and one corporation, will be celebrated during the closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange today.
The 2023 honorees are:
Raúl Alarcón, chairman of the board and CEO of the Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc.
Cathie Black, principal of Madison Park Ventures
Louis Carr, president of Media Sales of Black Entertainment Television (BET)
Antonio J. Lucio, principal and founder of 5S Diversity
Renetta E. McCann, chief inclusion experience officer of Publicis Groupe
Aaron M. Walton, CEO of Walton Isaacson
John Wren, chairman and CEO of Omnicom Group, Inc
McCann will also be presented with the David Bell Award for Industry Service, "which recognizes extraordinary, unique contributions and service to the advertising industry as a whole," according to The American Advertising Federation.
Unilever was named the 2023 corporate honoree for its continued focus on addressing social issues and reducing environmental impact as a way to guide business growth in the consumer industry.
The 72nd class of inductees is the most diverse in the hall of fame history and is representative of various aspects of the industry, according to Carolyn Everson, the former Facebook ad exec who chaired this year’s council of judges.
“It’s a very diverse class and I think one that we are incredibly proud of,” said Everson, who currently sits on the Disney and Coca-Cola Company boards of directors. “It sends a signal to the industry to see what this diverse group of people have achieved.”
The induction ceremony will be held on April 27, 2023, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
