You can get a 30% bonus on Hyatt points when you buy points by March 7, 2022.
Miles and points can and do lose value so buying airline miles or buying hotel points to stockpile your stash without any plans isn’t recommended.
But if you’re planning travel, want to book World of Hyatt hotels before the category changes, and have an upcoming use for your hotel points it could be worth considering the 30% bonus on World of Hyatt points.
During a sale, buying points can be a great deal when combined with promotions like the 20,220 Hyatt points offer.
How to Buy Hyatt Points
1. Use the Hyatt buy points link
2. Log in to your account
3. Choose the number of points you want to buy
4. Pay with your credit card
You have to buy at least 5,000 points to get the 30% bonus you have to buy at least 5,000 points. You can buy a maximum of 55,000 World of Hyatt points a calendar year.
Pro-tip: Buying doesn’t count towards World of Hyatt elite status like Globalist. It also doesn’t count towards your lifetime base points.
What Card to Use
When purchasing hotel points, here’s what card to use.
Because buying World of Hyatt points doesn’t code as a travel purchase, it doesn’t make sense to pay with cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve. Because you won’t earn a travel category bonus.
You could use a card that earns perks for spending such as the World of Hyatt card and the World of Hyatt Business card.
With the Hyatt card, you earn 2 elite qualifying nights for every $5,000 you spend. You also earn a free Category 1 to 4 night after spending $15,000 a year.
You earn 5 elite qualifying nights for every $10,000 you spend on the World of Hyatt Business card.
Pro-tip: You earn 3X points when you buy World of Hyatt points with your Ink Business Preferred. You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.
More importantly, if you have to meet minimum spending on a new travel rewards credit card, you should use that card before other cards.
Should You Buy Hyatt Points?
There are times when you should buy hotel points. Buying points during a sale can be a great deal if the math works out.
Meet Minimum Spending
Buying hotel points is an easy way to meet minimum spending on new credit cards that you can’t use with Plastiq.
Get 30% Off Hotel Stays
Normally each Hyatt point costs 2.4 cents. With this offer, you can buy points for 1.84 cents per point. If you buy 55,000 points with the 30% bonus, you’ll pay $1,320 for 71,500 points.
Free nights at World of Hyatt start at 3,500 points a night for offpeak travel. Buying points makes sense if you travel during the holidays, summer, and other peak times when the cash and point cost of rooms are expensive.
With 71,500 Hyatt points, you can get more than 14 free nights at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque or the Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta in Indonesia, 5 nights at the Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, or 2 nights at the Park Hyatt Maldives.
Pro-tip: The World of Hyatt award chart is changing on March 22, 2022. Buying points and booking hotels like Alila Ventana Big Sur and the Park Hyatt Vendome Paris now before the cost increases is a great value.
Saves Money During Peak Times
Buying points is worth it if you travel during the summer, holidays, and other peak times when rooms are expensive.
Paying $1,320 for 71,500 points gets you a weekend at a Hyatt allinclusive like Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, or Alila Ventana Big Sur.
At Ventana Big Sur nights can easily cost $2,500 a night!
Earn Elite Status
You can earn elite status faster when you buy points during a sale. You can use points to book hotel rooms because award nights count towards elite status.
Using points to pay for your Hyatt stays can earn you Globalist status.
Pro-tip: You can combine free nights booked on points with the free award nights earned from spending with your World of Hyatt card.
Conclusion
You can get a 30% bonus on Hyatt points when you buy World of Hyatt points by March 7, 2022.
Buying points is easy: use this link and log into your World of Hyatt account, choose how many points you want to buy, and enter your credit card information.
Remember to use any cards you need to meet the minimum spending on. If you don’t have any new credit cards, use your Chase Ink Preferred and earn 3X points.
To get the bonus, you have to buy at least 5,000 points and the most points you can buy a year is 55,000 points.
You can save a lot of money buying points if you travel during the summer, holidays, or if you stay at expensive hotels. Because it’s cheaper to buy points and redeem them for free hotel rooms instead of paying cash.
