Long-haul travel “leads the way” in 2023, according to the latest Travel Trends report from Titan Travel.
“People want to see more and go further, and they want flexibility and free time so they can explore or relax independently, too,” said the report.
It also predicts the US will be the most popular destination for its customers, followed by Canada and Italy.
Next year will also see the 45th anniversary of Titan, which launched in 1978 when brothers Irwin and Hugh Ferry started selling coach tours to the English seaside and northern France.
The company bought its first computer in 1986 and by 1989 it was offering its first US tour.
Next year will see the operator’s first private plane tour – Captivating Cultures: Rome to Rajasthan – and it will also unveil details of a new Nile cruise.
The best-selling tours so far for 2023 include the Deluxe Alaskan Voyage and Rocky Mountaineer; Southern Sights and Sounds; India’s Golden Triangle with Ranthambore; Wild Costa Rica; and Essence of Japan.
The report notes increased demand for small-group holidays, multi-generation trips and solo travel – as well as rising numbers of bookings for special occasions, once-in-a-lifetime tours and cruise-and-tour itineraries.
The research carried out among 409 customers found that more than 90% intend to travel in 2023 and more than half have already booked. Just 4% intend to travel just once and 23% want to travel five or more times in 2023.
Spring and autumn getaways are most in demand because many Titan clients choose to travel outside the high season and school holiday periods.
With cost-of-living concerns affecting many consumers, the report also offers tips about squeezing the most out of travel budgets and how to make the most of bank holidays in 2023.
