The push notifications are coming for you, if they haven’t already—Amazon Prime Day is here. Again. This is your chance to take inventory of your kitchen gear and think about what needs replacing. Not to mention the holiday season is glimmering around the corner. Make sure you have all the tools you need for cookie baking, decorating, keeping those hands safe, and your belly full.

A reliable kitchen scale

I reach for my kitchen scale on a daily basis, and every well-equipped kitchen should have one. I keep mine tucked away in a drawer, and this one has an extremely low profile, which means you won't have to sacrifice counter space.

A food processor

I get a ton of use out of my food processor. It can take care of everything from fruit smoothies to chopping nuts, or spiralizing zucchini. Though this is a higher ticket item, a good food processor is a worthy investment. Here's a deal for Prime members in need of a kitchen workhorse.

A set of liquid measuring cups

Measuring cups aren't just helpful for accuracy, but the shape and handle makes it great as a mixing bowl or impromptu dry-spaghetti holder. Here's a microwave-safe set for small and large measurements.

A hand mixer meets stand mixer

For mixing most cookie doughs, cake batters, and whipping cream for your summer berry pie, a hand mixer is all you need to lighten the work. Check out this model, which converts from a steady stand mixer to a handheld version for maneuverability.

A set of pots and pans

You won’t get too far in the kitchen without a set of pots and pans—or maybe you have a set but it’s time for an upgrade. Here's a gorgeous ceramic set you'll want to show off.

A hard-wearing cutting board

Bamboo cutting boards are known to be extremely durable at a great price. While an end-grain cutting board will be gentler on your good knives, these can be great as an extra surface for splitting dough, peeling veggies, and they can serve as impromptu platters or charcuterie boards.

A few good knives

A knife set in a block may look appealing, but odds are good that you're only going to reach for the same two or three. Instead of buying all that wasted metal, grab just a few good quality knives. I most often reach for a santoku, chef's knife, and utility knife. This set gets pretty close.

A better rice cooker

I had my last rice cooker for about 18 years. That's a great value, but there are just some appliances that need to be retired at a certain point. I traded in my antique for a Toshiba and our relationship is going swimmingly thus far.
