One of Europe’s biggest hotels has just opened in a popular holiday hotspot
The hotel is among the largest by room number on the continent
A giant new Polish resort has just opened its doors to guests, making it among the largest hotels in Europe
Hotel Gołębiewski Pobierowie officially opened on 10 June, offering an initial 532 rooms to guests – a number that will increase to 1,240 by next year.
The hotel has become the largest in Poland and on the continent by room count. It is only beaten by several complexes in Russia and the 1,630-room Royal National Hotel in London.
Located on the Baltic coast on the outskirts of Pobierowo, the 180,000-square-metre Hotel Gołębiewski is set among a dense forest at the site of a former military unit, with access to its own beach.
The hotel has been designed to resemble a passenger cruise ship. Despite its vast size, the hotel says that the building structure was designed to be almost invisible from the beach or the forest paths.

Out of the 1,240 rooms, all of which come with a balcony, more than 80 per cent offer a sea view.
Guests also have access to the hotel’s Tropikana Water Park, offering indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, water playgrounds, saunas, salt caves and salt brine inhalation rooms.
The largest outdoor pool measures 104 by 60 metres, which is comparable in size to a large football pitch.
Younger guests can also make use of three playrooms, slides that lead to ball pits, a projector room and a restaurant dedicated to children.
There are three other restaurants to choose from, including pan-Asian, traditional Polish and a buffet.
The opening of Gołębiewski Pobierowo has created a workplace for 300 new staff, which the hotel says will increase to 400 by July.

"I believe that the enormous strength of this place lies in the people working here," said Jarosław Gołębiewski, the CEO of Gołębiewski Holding, during the hotel opening.
"Their work has a decisive impact on the assessment of the entire team and the place of rest. The success of this place will not be the success of one person or management. It will be a collective success.
“Every positive guest review, recommendation, rating, or their return to us is the result of the daily efforts of the entire staff," he added.
The largest European hotel is the Izmailovo Hotel in Moscow with 5,000 rooms spread across several towers.
