Oyo Names Sinha Motel 6 Head upon Deal Finalization
Indian budget hospitality giant Oyo's parent company, Oravel Stays, has finalized the $525 million acquisition of Motel 6 and Studio 6 parent G6 Hospitality. Oyo then named Sonal Sinha as CEO of G6.
Indian budget hospitality giant Oyo's parent company, Oravel Stays, has finalized the $525 million acquisition of Motel 6 and Studio 6 parent G6 Hospitality from Blackstone Real Estate, the company announced this week. Oyo then named Sonal Sinha, who was the U.S. country head for Oyo, as CEO of G6.
Oyo announced the G6 deal in September. The company said it would maintain the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, which include about 1,500 properties in the U.S. and Canada, and planned to add "over 150 hotels in 2025" under their banners.
The company in a statement said it planned to evolve its technology structure, promising "enhanced mobile and web booking experience and options of dynamic pricing capabilities that can optimize rates across room types throughout the year," as well as distribution options beyond online travel agencies, "simultaneously strengthening direct booking channels and corporate booking demand."
Oyo said it planned to "hire team members primarily in the franchisee-facing functions while consolidating and rightsizing some functions to create better synergies across the organization."
Sinha has worked with Oyo since 2015, primarily in international roles including chief development officer and CFO of the company's international holdings. He replaces former G6 president and CEO Julie Arrowsmith, who will depart the company, according to Oyo.
