Queen Elizabeth II: industry continues to pay respects

Tributes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II have continued to pour in from across the travel industry today.
The Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96 and King Charles III will be officially proclaimed King at the Accession Council on Saturday morning, Buckingham Palace has said.
The news of the Queen’s death prompted many in the travel sector to pay tribute last night and this morning and to celebrate her many achievements throughout her 70-year reign, with messages of support continuing on Friday.
Miniple Miles Morgan Travel said its thoughts were with the royal family and, like many travel companies, confirmed it was pausing social media as a mark of respect.

Hays Travel, the UK’s largest agency retail chain, expressed its sadness and thanked the Queen for her service.

MSC Cruises issued a tribute, thanking the Queen for “dedicating her life” to the United Kingdom and “building a truly incredible legacy that will forever be remembered”.
“On behalf of our employees and partners at MSC Cruises, our deepest sympathy and condolences are with the royal family as we join the rest of the UK and beyond in a period of national mourning for Her Majesty the Queen,” the line added.
Barrhead Travel offered its “deepest condolences” to the Royal Family and said it would be pausing communications as a mark of respect.
“We thank Her Majesty for her 70-year service, during which she impacted the lives of so many around the world.”
Kuoni posted about the “sense of loss” among staff members and society as a whole, adding: “She has been such a huge part of our lives for so long.”

Scottish two-branch agency Thorne Travel said it would “join the nation in mourning” and said “as a strong woman, mum, gran and great gran” the Queen will be “sadly missed”.

The Travel Bureau tweeted how the Queen was “ever present” in our national story for “decades” and added that her life was “example to us all”.
