Travel Counsellors donates to two local charity Christmas appeals

Homeworking agency Travel Counsellors has donated to two local charity Christmas appeals: Cash for Kids and Reuben’s Retreat.

The Manchester-headquartered firm has supported the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign which looks after grass-root organisations across the UK that focus on helping disadvantaged children.

The campaign aims to ensure there is a present under the Christmas tree for children of families in crisis to open on Christmas Day.

Agents and head office staff donated new toys, books and gifts, and also helped remotely by buying gifts through the Mission Christmas website.

Donations were collected during November and December and delivered to the dedicated drop-off at Trafford Retail Park, Manchester.

Members of Travel Counsellors’ support team also raised more than £1,000 as part of their annual Christmas raffle, for the company’s chosen charity partner, Reuben’s Retreat.

Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop supports families who have lost a child or whose children are living with medical complexities.

It was set up on August 23, 2012, by Nicola Graham – who previously worked in the travel industry – two days after the death of her toddler Reuben.

Steve Byrne, chief executive of Travel Counsellors, said: “Both charities, Cash for Kids and Reuben’s Retreat, are doing incredible work and we’re delighted to get behind their efforts to support children in our local community, especially during the festive season.

“We hope that through both contributions, we can play just a small part in helping to make a difference and spread cheer to local children who need it most at this time of year.”
