Tui Group announces new airline chief commercial role
Peter Glade joins on November 1 from SunExpress
Tui Group has announced a new chief commercial officer role to lead its airline following its recent business restructure.
Peter Glade joins on November 1 from SunExpress where he was chief commercial officer for more than eight years. He has a background in consulting and played key roles at Austrian Airlines and Star Alliance.
The appointment follows the announcement of Neil Swanson as the new managing director of Tui UK & Ireland to replace Andrew Flintham and a wider Tui Group restructuring to a new operational model.
The chief commercial officer role will become a new position on the Tui Airline board.
Glade will lead Tui Airlines’ focus on finding new commercial opportunities and aligning operations with the needs of the group’s regions.
Tui Airline chief executive Marco Ciomperlik said: “The airline industry continues to evolve, with growing capacity, focus on cost and efficiency, as well as a shift to leisure markets.
“As Tui Airline, we want to further strengthen and expand our position in this segment as the holiday airline of choice for customers and B2B partners.
“Peter brings extensive commercial expertise, a strong network and a wealth of experience in aviation. His dedication to drive profitability and his deep understanding of successful cross-cultural leadership will be invaluable to our team.”
He said Glade would be tasked with enhancing commercial capabilities and sourcing new revenue potential and partnerships with a view to broadening the airline’s customer base.
“This will enable us to maximise the value we deliver to the wider Tui Group, while ensuring that our external perception matches our standing as one of Europe’s top 10 airlines,” he added.
