Viral Thorne Travel video resurfaces on Hunsnet
Instagram post comes as agency celebrates 15th anniversary
A promotional video from Scottish agency Thorne Travel that went viral 10 years ago is reaching new audiences again, thanks to being featured on Instagram by Hunsnet.
Founded by a former Pontin’s Bluecoat, Hunsnet has 261,000 followers and shares humorous content and memes.
The original video features the staff from the agency – which has branches in Kilwinning, Largs and Prestwick – and was dubbed the “funniest travel agent video ever” thanks to the power-walking, pumping Euro house music and a man in a dress doing a flip at the two-minute mark.
The Hunsnet post says: “Im not being funny or owt but I would trust the Thorne Travel team girlies with meh life.”
Comments beneath the post include: “This is in Kilwinning High Street and it’s the stuff of local legend”; “Eh we’ll tell em it’s ur honeymoon, ya might get a cheeky bottle of bubbly and a box of choccies in ur room on arrival”; “If Girls Aloud and The Saturdays did travel” and “I book most of my holidays with these fabulous ladies, they are the best.”

A day with… Thorne Travel, Kilwinning [2017]
The revival of the video comes as Thorne Travel celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Founder Shona Thorne told Travel Weekly: “It’s funny seeing it come back – it was such a long time ago.”
She said it resurfaces on Facebook every year about this time, thanks to Timehop, as it was originally posted in October 2014.
The video was even cheekily remade by The Poke, to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and that version resurfaces at Halloween each year, said Thorne.
The agency also created a festive video in 2018 which featured Santa Claus, which “does the rounds” each year, she added.
However, the Thorne team is not planning to make any more videos in the near future – although the agency is hosting parties and events to celebrate its anniversary.
These include a “tipsy tea” for 100 customers, plus staff past and present at the Kilwinning bowls club in November and another get-together on the first weekend of January.
Thorne said she originally envisaged she would just have a team of three when she founded the agency 15 years ago, but now has 20 staff across three branches.
