American Queen Voyages has also added new four, five and nine-day New Orleans round-trip itineraries on the Lower Mississippi, and an eight-day round-trip Portland itinerary.

All nine-day sailings start at £2,157, while four-day trips lead in at £1,163.

The price includes one-night pre-cruise hotel stay with breakfast, transfers between hotel and ship, full-board on the cruise, drinks, guided tours and Wi-Fi.

Michelle Daniels, UK & Europe commercial director for Light Blue Travel, which acts as the representative for American Queen Voyages, said: “Up to now, cruises on the Lower Mississippi between New Orleans and Memphis have been the most popular with UK travellers.

“Cruise and US specialist agents will be pleased that they can now offer something different, especially to their loyal, repeat customers who may have previously cruised the Lower Mississippi.”
