Delta, Global Carriers to Resume Tel Aviv Flights

With a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in place, many global carriers plan to resume service to Tel Aviv that had been suspended at various points after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.

Delta Air Lines on April 1 will resume flights between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv, the carrier announced Friday. The nonstop flights will operate daily with Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, providing nearly 2,000 weekly seats, according to Delta.

The carrier also has a codeshare deal with El Al Israel Airlines that began Jan. 1, 2024. The partnership allows Delta customers to book El Al flights between Tel Aviv and JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, according to the carrier.

"Delta's decision to resume service follows a comprehensive security review, conducted in close coordination with government and private-sector partners," the carrier noted in a statement.

The Atlanta-based airline is the only one of the three U.S. passenger carriers with Israel service to announce intentions to resume flights. American Airlines in a statement said that it "continuously evaluates its network and we have nothing new to share at this time regarding Tel Aviv service." United Airlines said "our flights to Tel Aviv remain suspended at this time."
