Two year old, announces bursting into our room, predawn: “Me done sleeping!”
(This also meant he had just successfully climbed out of the crib for the first time.)
My husband quipped: “THAT is the tagline for parents everywhere!”

When we first took the side off his bed my son would thump down the hall (tik tik tik), fumble around with the door and come stand about 6 inches from my face and proudly announce “TA DA”. He overheard us describing this to my MIL (with sound effects).
He kept doing it except he added “tik tik tik TA DA” to his announcement.

When my son was really little, maybe 2 or 3, I remember he woke me up one morning by telling me to “stop sleeping around.” Ha! Now he is 10 and every morning after my husband gets up before dawn, Charlie shuffles down the hall, climbs in my bed, and says, “I’m here to snuggle.” I love it so much and I dread the day he stops doing it. I try to soak it in every day.

My sister trained one of our first nieces to call her “most gracious adorable one.” Oh, my heart. I can still hear her little voice saying it (she is 27 now).

My 11-year old is now staying in his room in the morning reading or looking through his Pokémon cards. I really miss the days of him ripping his door open, running the six feet to our door and then slowly and quietly climbing in bed to cuddle between us! Though I’m an early waker myself, I would often stay in bed and wait for the sound of that door to bust open.

My 2yr old either wakes up crying hysterically from her many early morning emotions, or happily cheering,”Sunshine!!! Mama, I get up because there is sunshine!!”. Even though it’s still mostly dark at 6:30AM, haha.

Aww hahaha I so feel this! My 19-month-year-old daughter either wakes up crying or counting “oneeeee, twoooo, threeeeeee”.

the boys were recently waking me up to ask “where’s your phone?” so I have now trained them to say: “good morning, mommy…” *wait for an answer* “how did you sleep…” *wait for an answer* “where’s your phone?”
hahaha

When my daughter was very little and guests would arrive, she would fling open the door and say “Come IN! Would you like some wine?”. It always set the tone for a fun gathering :)

5 year old stage whispers in my ear: “mahhm mahhhm there’s no toilet paper and there’s still poop in my butt”

Kids who learn formal polite phrases are the cutest! Lately my 5-year-old son (who don’t worry is a hellion in many other ways) has started asking me very gravely after pickup: “Did you have a good day at work today mummy?”

oh my goodness, my five year old says “have a good meeting” and “did you have a good meeting” to my spouse and me when we head into or come from a Zoom meeting at home.

When my partner was a toddler, his mom taught not to wake anyone up before sunrise. So every day at the crack of dawn, she got to hear a tiny voice from down the hall shouting: “SUN UP! I UP!”

I always greet my 2 and 3 year old with “I’m so happy to see you!” when I come home from work, pick them up from school, when they wake up from a nap or on the rare occasion they wake up after me. This is now what they say to me at 6 AM on a weekend as they heave their little bodies onto me “Amma, I’m so happy to see you! Can I have a muffin for breakfast?”

Such a lovely way to greet your kids and show them you appreciate their presence.

My 2.5 yo has started calling things “lovely” lately (must have learned it at daycare?), and the other day when I lifted him out of his crib, he touched my head and said “this hair is LOVELY, mom!” 😂😊 Definitely makes the early wake up easier.

Lol love this so much! My 3-year-old’s usual wake up phrase (still in pull ups at this point for night time is) “I HAVE POOP!”

One of our cats has decided that she needs to wake me up at 3 AM by rubbing her whole head against my face. As her whiskers rake across my eyes and cheeks, I imagine her repeating: “I love you, I love you, I love you.”
It helps reduce my rage a bit.

I need to create a version of this for my 21 year old son, home now from college for a long weekend, who has been known to wake me to announce the cat threw up, a super inspiring way to start the day.
