Police deploy tear gas and clash with anti-government protesters in Lima, Peru.
Civilians and police came to blows when protesters tried to make their way to an Independence Day parade headed by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.
Officers fired tear gas at protesters, who can be seen hitting police with objects in retaliation.
The protesters had gathered about 800 meters (0.49 miles) from where the parade was taking place.
Those protests began after then-President Pedro Castillo was impeached and later arrested for trying to dissolve Congress in December 2022.
A group of demonstrators, dressed in black, also carried photographs of victims who were killed during the previous anti-government protests late last year.
