Spirit Airlines CEO Christie Exits

Spirit Airlines president and CEO Ted Christie has stepped down from his position and left the airline, effective immediately, the carrier announced Monday. The board of directors is "in the process of appointing a permanent replacement," according to Spirit.

An "office of the president" has been formed to lead the company "on an interim basis" until a new CEO is appointed, according to the carrier. That team includes CFO Fred Cromer, COO John Bendoraitis, and general counsel Thomas Canfield.

In addition, chief commercial officer Matt Klein has stepped down. Former SVP and chief transformation officer Rana Ghosh has succeeded Klein in the role. Ghosh joined the company in 2015 and assumed his previous role in June 2024, according to Spirit.

In March, when Spirit exited bankruptcy, the carrier said Christie and the existing executive team would continue to lead the airline. Christie had been at the helm of the airline since 2019.
