Regarding 67: According to my high school Junior, it has no real meaning. An NBA player was being interviewed and when asked about his height he replied, “ 6, 7” gesturing height with his hands. For some reasons, this was hilarious to younger teens/tweens and now they mimic it. Older teens thinks it’s “cringe” – haha!

My husband has done mornings with my 10, 13 and 16 year old for the past 5 years since I’ve gone back to work full time. I’m suuuuure he asks the 10 year to get their backpack at least 6-7 times each morning ;) Also we have lists around the house to help the youngest get himself together—I truly have no idea how my husband feeds them gets them out the door and himself ready for work. Clocked it! I just quietly sneak out at 6am ready to stand on business teaching 6th graders…and yes I hear 6 7 ten million times a day.

High school teacher here: the 67 song is unending. Oh my gosh.
This seems just exactly right! Although some of it (the socks! The outfit crisis) already apply to my 7 year old—yikes :)

I first interpreted Mood Swing as mine, the mom! Because there’s a tipping point in the morning rush and if you cross me…. watch it.
Love my kids but I get dazed when I think about what mornings were like before them. I sat on the couch with an actual hot breakfast?!? Watching a morning show? damn I had it good.

Oh how I wish I could get a “bye mom love you”… sigh.

I have a senior this year! The looking at the baby pics after they leave got me! This year I snapped a quick last first day of school pic and then went through old photos looking for his first day of kindergarten and teared up remembering how small he used to be. I kept scrolling and thinking is this it? And then realizing that no thats 3rd grade! You forget so much even as he basically is still a baby
in a quadrant of my heart and always will be. I’ll be tearing up all senior year. I well up because I couldn’t be prouder, because he’s about to go off on his own, because I want him to go out into the big wide world and do all the things and be so involved with friends and school a d fun that of course he forgets to call and at the same time I want him to
stay home forever and never leave and only sit in the couch with me eating snacks and making jokes and having a few cuddles.
Being a mom is tough!

My 10 yo taught my 6 yo the 6-7 thing and now I’m hearing it nonstop from both! S.O.S!!

Our morning routine drastically changed when I asked my kids to choose their clothes the night before. It’s like they are emotionally detached from the decision at night, if that makes sense? There’s no rush, no stress, and it takes a total of 30 seconds. I even started to do the same.

Omg the 6 7 is a thing in Canada, too. My 14 yr old explained it to me a few weeks ago, and yesterday my 9 yr old came home saying it. I so often feel like Grace and I are living identical lives?! Well done.100% accuracy.
September 5, 2025 4:58 pm
Same here! 6 7
September 5, 2025 2:42 pm
WTF is the 67 thing!
September 5, 2025 4:52 pm
Yes, please explain!

It’s just a catch phrase from a tiktok. It doesn’t mean anything really. They just liked the way someone said 6’7’’ and then spliced it into a lot of other meanings. Similar to how millenials quoted (and still do sometimes) the simpsons incessantly. I think the 6,7 thing is cute, they are on the look out for it and kind of yell BINGO! When it happens.

Hahaha, this is so accurate! We bought a boatload of socks for both boys before they went back to school so at least that problem is taken care of. However, the 7th grader’s calculator is sitting on the dining room table because he neglected to put it in his backpack this morning…

x + y = WTAF 😂

My god, the 67. I teach middle and high school and my kids will not stop 😂
September 5, 2025 1:37 pm
I don’t have kids, but definitely remember being forced to eat oatmeal I hated that was also often basically cold/coagulated by the time I got to it because of said fashion crisis.

Realizing I am old because I have no idea what this 67 thing is…nothing humbles you quite like parenthood!

I looked it up! Only to find several meanings-none very nice. In my son’s teen years it was “talk to the hand” and that went remark went bye bye real fast.
Oh, youth. Another fun school year.

My ten year old came home from the first day of school and proudly said his math teacher had said he did the first “six seven” of the year. A real honor.

The 67 inclusion is brilliant and so spot on
September 5, 2025 12:48 pm
6-7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 5, 2025 12:31 pm
So on point. My preteen to my 8 year old “67 is a preteen thing, don’t worry about it.”
September 5, 2025 12:27 pm
I feel this. For real!
September 5, 2025 12:20 pm
Accurate.

Please remember to smile and make friendly eye contact with your Crossing Guards! Hubs went back to his post this week- Year 5. 🙌

Waking up at 7 am? WHAT??
Sincerely,
A high school teacher who has to deal with groggy teenagers in her homeroom at 6:45 am.
September 5, 2025 12:34 pm
Yikes, 6:45! *I* would be groggy! Not sure how they expect teenagers, whose natural circadian rhythm is later, to be awake!
Thankfully our district has HS start the latest. Classes start at 9:00. (8:30 for MS; 8:00 for ES). Even though I very unreasonably (I’m told :p) require my kids to walk the mile to school, they can easily get up at 7 and have enough time.
September 5, 2025 1:25 pm
SIX?! That’s wild. We’re 7:45 here and it’s wayyyy too early for my high school students. Where do you teach?
September 5, 2025 4:12 pm
I had the same thought! My girls are up at 5 to have enough time to get ready – especially the curly haired teenager. Our schools are a little later at 7:20 for middle school and 7:30 for high school.
September 5, 2025 11:21 am
Yep, this was exactly my morning. Often my daughter steals my socks!
September 5, 2025 11:16 am
The number of times a day I hear six-seeeevvveennn a day LOLOL
September 5, 2025 10:41 am
Okay for my sanity – to confirm – this 67 thing is just a bunch of nonsense based on a song and nba player??
My third and fifth grade girls are coming home lamenting how annoying the boys are when they repeat it.

You can follow Phil Lindsay on IG for all the teen slang decoding. He’s a special education teacher in middle school and he is awesome! @mr_phlindsay_sped

67, too good
September 5, 2025 10:16 am
Had never heard the 67 song but just put it on and it is horrible :)
Otherwise, everything tracks.

Ditto!
