I wanted to know which websites are mentioned the most often in AI Assistants. This should give some indication of which sites are being favored by the different systems. I looked at the top 10 websites cited in Ahrefs Brand Radar for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. This is across ~76.7M AI Overviews, 957k ChatGPT prompts, and 953.5k Perplexity prompts for the month of June 2025. Sidenote. Brand Radar isn’t just another LLM visibility monitor, we track a large amount of queries across all of these systems and you can query for any product, service, or brand and compare vs competitors. Here’s a comparison across AI assistants: Here are the top 10 websites by mentions in each AI assistant: Not all citations are equal. Some things are searched more than others. I wanted to look at the visibility or prominence of the various citations. We have Google search volumes, but there is no reliable search volume for AI assistants. We weight the citations based on historical web popularity of searches using the Google search volume numbers. Impression Share = Mentions weighted by keyword search volume to estimate visibility. Potential Reach = Mentions weighted by Google search volume to estimate potential exposure. Wikipedia dominates all three, but ChatGPT (16.3%) cites it most, then Perplexity (12.5%), then AI Overviews (8.4%).YouTube is a clear favorite in Perplexity (16.1%) and AI Overviews (9.5%) but is missing in the top in ChatGPT.Reddit and Quora rank high only in AI Overviews (7.4% & 3.6%). They don’t crack the top-10 in ChatGPT or Perplexity. It seems Google favors user generated content sites.News outlets like Reuters, Apple News (AP), and AS.com feature prominently in ChatGPT (4 - 2.6%) but are secondary or absent in the others. ChatGPT likes news sites.Health/medical sites (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic) register in AI Overviews but are not in the top 10 for ChatGPT or Perplexity. Perplexity does surface niche health sites (tuasaude, alodokter).
