You don't need to wait until next week to start finding great Prime Day deals—there are already plenty of early tech deals to consider. One of the best—particularly if you have younger readers at home—is the Kindle Colorsoft Kids Edition, currently priced at $179.99, $90 off the original $269.99 list price, and the lowest price it has ever reached, according to price tracking tools.

The Kindle Kids models always offer a better value than the regular adult version, regardless of the owner's age: They include a case, don't display ads, and offers a free trial of Amazon Kids+, a subscription service that grants access to a bunch of books. You also get an extended 2-year warranty. The Amazon Kids+ subscription will automatically renew every month (starting at $5.99 per month) unless you cancel it. You can also use the Parent Dashboard to add books from your account to your kid's library, view reading progress, adjust age filters, set a device bedtime, and more.

The Kindle Colorsoft Kids Edition was released last July, and it's essentially the same as the Kindle Colorsoft adult version, but with the aforementioned perks. The color screen is ideal for comic books and picture books. There's a temperature-adjustable light for reading at night, and the battery lasts up to 8 weeks.

What do you think so far?

If you're not sure if the kids' edition is for you (or your kid), we have a breakdown of all the Kindle models. I've been using Kindles for over a decade now, and love them to bits. While at full price this Kindle doesn't seem worth it, at $180, it's a great deal.
