Which Countries Have Invested the Most Into AI Development [Infographic]

AI is the tech trend of the moment, attracting billions of dollars of investment, and driving major market shifts, based on the potential that AI-based tools seemingly have to change how we work, live, and more.

Governments are also getting involved, as they seek to win the AI race, which is pushing even more money into AI projects. But which nations are investing the most, and stand to win out in the long run as the leaders of the global AI goldrush?

This chart form Visual Capitalist looks at exactly that, providing a simple overview of the nations that have invested the most into AI development thus far (that we know of), as they push to build the best models, and mitigate potential losses in falling behind.

There is, of course, more to it than this. Unreported private investment could make this even higher in some regions, while in terms of broader development, regulatory approaches could also impede innovation and advancement on some fronts.

But right now at least, the AI race is seemingly between the U.S. and China, with American companies, including Meta, Google and X, pushing a heap of funding into AI projects.
