Hotelplan hikers for charity issue industry support plea

Hotelplan UK hikers are seeking industry support for two long-distance walking challenges for charity this month

Forty staff from across Inghams, Santa’s Lapland, Explore Worldwide and Hotelplan UK’s shared services teams aim to raise funds for Inghams’ charity partner Mind Over Mountains on March 14.

One group will take on the Surrey Three Peaks – a circular, 23-mile route that includes the county’s three highest summits  – Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill and Box Hill – ascending more than 1,000 metres in total.

The second group will walk the London Royal Parks – another 23-mile route – which runs from Bushy Park to Primrose Hill via seven Royal Parks and other central London landmarks.

They aim to raise money for Mind Over Mountains, a charity that believes in the restorative nature of nature and walking when it comes to improving mental health.

Walkers are more than 70% towards their collective fundraising target of £10,000.

Hotelplan UK is now inviting other colleagues from across the industry to support the cause.

Donations can be made to a group fundraising page at https://justgiving.com/team/inghamsmom

Two bake sales have already been held to boost fundraising efforts, with Hotelplan UK match-funding the proceeds from those to add to the pot.

Krissy Roe, senior sustainability manager for Inghams and Santa’s Lapland, said: “The great outdoors and the spirit of adventure are threads linking all of Hotelplan UK’s brands.

“We’re delighted so many people from across the group are stepping up – both to raise money and to embrace Mind Over Mountains’ philosophy of restoring mental health, naturally. This is set to be a great team-building event.”

Mind Over Mountains chief executive Ian Sansbury added: “Completing these challenge events doesn’t require any specialist training or equipment, but they represent a great test of physical and mental endurance for everyone involved.

“At the same time, we know that the time that the Hotelplan team will spend walking and talking, connecting with nature and supporting each other, will be great for their mental health and wellbeing. It will be a taste of the sort of highly impactful wellbeing support that Mind Over Mountains brings to hundreds of people across England and Wales every year.

“We are delighted to consider Inghams a true partner, rather than just a corporate donor – we’re working closely together towards a shared vision of better mental health for all. And we look forward to guiding Hotelplan UK’s two teams through what we hope will be an enriching and transformative experience.”
